Gipsy Hill Federation
Gipsy Hill is a federation of six primary schools across Lambeth and Southwark.
Amelie Thompson provides her views on working with Safe4Schools.
Safe4Schools have always been highly professional and responsive to the needs of our organisation, supporting us to ensure that safeguarding training is shared effectively in an accessible and memorable way for our staff. This includes both statutory training, such as Designated Safeguarding Lead training, and further safeguarding training, for example, exploring how we can work with families where parents are experiencing mental health difficulties.
During the pandemic, we have accessed virtual training and have been impressed by the continued commitment from Safe4Schools to high levels of professionalism and interactivity. The course content and delivery has not been compromised by working in these new ways. Staff who have engaged with their training have particularly benefitted from the opportunities to engage in reflective activities, expertly facilitated so that staff can engage with the training content whilst also sharing and benefitting from their own experience and expertise to move their practice on. This has given our staff the continued confidence to respond to the evolving needs of our communities as we have navigated this pandemic together.
We continue to work in partnership with Safe4Schools and would not hesitate to recommend them to other schools.

Oasis Community Learning
Oasis Community Learning is a large multi-academy trust of over 50 schools. We worked with Oasis to develop a virtual Designated Safeguarding Lead course during the pandemic, and continue to deliver this to their staff across the UK.
Jon Needham, national safeguarding lead for Oasis provides his view of Safe4Schools and the quality of our training.
Could you provide an overview of your experience of working with Safe4Schools?
Working with Safe4Schools has been a real joy – their professionalism and flexibility has been impressive, the speed with which they shifted from face-to-face training provision to an innovative approach to online facilitation has been superb.
Could you provide an overview of your experience of the virtual training offered by Safe4Schools?
Using Zoom as a training platform has allowed the training offer to be responsive to the needs of the organisation, but also to the needs of the participants. The blended approach of straight lecture, large group discussion and targeted small group discussion in breakout rooms, alongside a monitored chat function and accompanying handouts has really developed the online delivery. So much so that as an organisation we have opted to continue this online mode of delivery as a permanent arrangement.
How did your staff respond to the training and what outcomes do you feel were gained?
Initially staff were concerned about yet another online course, but the evaluation and feedback has been overwhelmingly good. Delegates have spontaneously emailed feedback and word of mouth has meant potential participants have been asking for space on courses. Positive participation is noted by Safe4Schools and is fed back to line managers.
Has the training helped your schools respond to the needs of students during the pandemic?
Developing our training with Safe4Schools has meant that the course content has reflected the ethos of our organisation. Our core philosophy and approach is reflected through the course, and each participant understands how the training supports our students, in our academies within the context of the community they live in.
Would you recommend Safe4Schools to other schools?
YES, without reservation. They offer a cost effective, client focused adaptive service, commissioning Safe4Schools has been one of my best decisions.

North Northamptonshire Council
We have worked with Safe4Schools (S4S) since May 2023 to provide safeguarding and disability awareness training to both Hackney Carriage and Private hire drivers across North Northamptonshire.
The course covers both safeguarding for children and vulnerable adults and is delivered face to face.
We have found S4S to be a positive partner who have strived to further develop the course for the benefit of delegates. This has included the development of a written test which enjoys a positive pass rate and ensures our drivers have the required skills to safely transport passengers.
Working with S4S has been a positive experience and I would recommend their services to other local authorities.
